There are multiple backgrounds to choose from, or you can even create your own custom backgrounds. Unfortunately, you have to choose from one of several preset avatars to represent yourself on the table. Unlike some sites which let you use a custom avatar, you can only obtain one if you can somehow accrue 1,000,000 Full tilt points, which is not feasible for the vast majority of players.

SYMBOLS
In the Tournaments and Sit n Go lobby, you will see many symbols which are confusing at first. Here’s a quick explanation of all the symbols:
T = Turbo structure, there are shorter blind intervals than regular tournaments so that the games end quicker
[+] = Rebuys and Add-ons are allowed during the first hour
K = Knockouts, you will receive money for every player that you knockout in addition to the prizes
Il = Doublestack, players start out with 3,000 chips instead of 1,500
III = Triplestack, players start out with 5,000 chips instead of 1,500
S = Shootout, each table plays down until one player is left instead of automatically filling up throughout the tournament
6 = Six handed, all tables have a maximum of 6 players per table instead of 9
2 = Heads Up, each table has a maximum of 2 players per table instead of 9
FEES
Full Tilt Poker charges a commission for playing on the site in the form of a rake or entry fee. The rake is a percentage of the final pot size in a ring game. Usually 5% rake is taken from each pot that is won by a player, and it will be capped at a certain amount. For tournaments, an entry fee is added to a buy-in and then deducted automatically. There will be two numbers, the first will be the money that goes to the prize pool and the second will be the entry fee. For example, if you bought in to a $1.00 + $0.10 touranament, you would pay 1 dollar toward the prize pool and 10 cents to Full Tilt Poker for their commission.

Whether you are a beginning or advanced player, Full Tilt Poker has the software, traffic, and games to suit your every poker needs. They even listen to suggestions from players, so if you have a good idea, don’t be afraid to communicate it to them via email or the Full Tilt forums. Good luck at the tables.
